• We have no state funding, no wealthy benefactors — we run on passion, dedication, community support and grant funding.

• It currently costs us approx £45,000 a year just to operate at the level we’re at now, with no room for growth.

• Right now, the entire charity is run by our founder, Barbara Fountain, who is spinning a heroic number of plates — but we all know that’s not sustainable.

Our Vision for the Future

We’re working towards a future where Young Tongues is the global leader in peer support, research advocacy and resource development for people aged 18–64 affected by tongue cancer.

We envision a world where:

• Patients are diagnosed earlier, even without traditional risk factors.

• People receive age-appropriate care and support, without feeling isolated or overlooked.

• The causes of tongue cancer in younger people are better understood and actively studied.

• Treatment options become kinder, recovery more supported and long-term quality of life prioritised.

• Clinical best practices reflect the needs of younger patients and policy change makes those practices standard.

This is the future we want and with your help, we believe we can get there.
