You Don’t Have to Navigate This Alone

If you or someone you care about has been diagnosed with tongue cancer, it can feel overwhelming — especially when you are younger and struggling to find information or support that reflects your stage of life.

Young Tongues exists to ensure that no one diagnosed with tongue cancer before their 65th birthday has to face it alone.

Our global community connects people who understand the unique challenges of experiencing tongue cancer at a younger age. Through peer support, shared experiences and trusted information, we help people feel less isolated and better equipped for the road ahead.

If you feel hesitant about speaking, no worries—our chat feature allows you to participate in a way that feels comfortable, and our hosts will gladly voice your contributions. We look forward to seeing you there!

In Person Meet-Ups

We’re holding in person meet-ups in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Switzerland and with more locations to be added!

These gatherings are a fantastic opportunity for young tongue cancer patients to connect with others locally, share experiences, exchange insights, and find support from those who truly understand your journey.

Young Tongues Podcast

The Young Tongues Podcast, hosted by our CEO & Founder Barbara and her co-host Jamie, is a candid and insightful series designed to explore the realities of living with tongue cancer.

Now in its second season, the podcast dives into a wide range of topics, ensuring no subject is off-limits.

The podcast is available on Spotify, Apple, YouTube and other podcast platforms.

Imogen’s Story

“Even though I was lucky to have an incredible medical team, nothing compares to the value of lived experience. I’ve received invaluable advice, support, and guidance from others in the group—and now, being able to support others has helped me come to terms with my own journey.

The most important thing Young Tongues gave me is hope. Before I found the group, I had given up on ever eating solid food again. Thanks to Young Tongues, and despite having nearly all of my tongue removed, I can now eat anything—even steak.

There’s so much wisdom in the group, even if you’re just reading others’ stories. Sometimes, knowing someone else has been through it is exactly what you need.”

Knowledge Is Power and We’re Building More of It

We’re currently developing a new Young Tongues Patient Hub — a dedicated space designed to provide clear, practical and trustworthy information for people navigating tongue cancer at a younger age.

This resource will be shaped by the real experiences of our community and reviewed by clinicians to ensure the information is both helpful and reliable.

But to bring this ambitious vision to life, we need your help.

Community Rules

Be Kind

Even though we have the same diagnosis, our experience is unique. We encourage you to share your experiences, but frame suggestions as personal perspectives rather than directives. For instance, use phrases like 'This worked for me,' instead of 'You must' or 'Do this.'

No Cancer Comparison Game

We ask everyone to avoid comparing cancer experiences, whether it’s minimising someone else’s challenges or downplaying your own. Instead, let’s focus on acknowledging our shared journey and validating each other’s emotions.

Don't be a Doctor

While sharing personal experiences is welcome, offering medical advice is discouraged, as it can unintentionally lead to harm. Always remind peers to consult their medical team before trying something new.

There is no pressure

Your presence is welcome here—whether you're an active participant or prefer to observe quietly. Engage in whatever way feels best for you, and know that your boundaries are respected.

You are allowed to leave

It's okay to leave or take a break whenever you need to prioritize other areas of your life. If you'd like to stay connected, follow our public social pages or sign up for our mailing list at www.youngtonguesglobal.com.

Safe Space

No question is silly, and every emotion is valid. Please respect the privacy and feelings of your peers, and avoid sharing or tagging information without their explicit consent.

Tongue Cancer Education

By participating in this group, you consent to your posts and comments potentially being used anonymously for educational and awareness-raising content. Personal photos, videos, or identifiable stories will never be shared without your explicit permission.

Fundraising and Selling

To maintain a focused and supportive space, we only allow fundraising efforts that directly benefit The Young Tongues charity. Personal fundraising campaigns or posts promoting or selling commercial products are not permitted. This ensures our community remains centered on our shared mission. Thank you for your understanding!

Research

If you are approached to share a research initiative within our group, please contact our CEO, Barbara, at [email protected] first. We have specific protocols in place, and all research opportunities must be reviewed and approved before being shared through the official Young Tongues admin account.
